The second annual West Manchester Day was a blast. The weather was perfect for games and picnicking in Lafayette Park. Families with children of all ages enjoyed the huge array of field games. We Heart West volunteers helped the Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration Program to clean up Blodget Park. The event was very well attended and a lot of trash was collected. We also made contact with Manchester Cleanups, another organization helping to clean up the greater Manchester — consider helping them to clean up your neighborhood.
Just before the Rail Trail passes under the Kelley Street bridge to Pinardville, there is a triangular area on the east side of the trail, north of the Ice Arena, that has a huge amount of trash from abandoned homeless camps. We and other volunteers helped out John L. to move some of this trash…
We Heart West volunteers helped the Parkside Gardens gardeners to clean up and prepare the vegetable garden for the season. This included picking up trash in and around the garden, and laying mulch for the footpath running to the school.
